ABOUT US

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) was established in 2017 to represent the aspirations of the people of South Yemen for self-determination, stability, and inclusive governance. The STC emerged from a broad coalition of southern political, social, and military leaders committed to restoring the state of South Yemen and addressing decades of marginalization and injustice. It is a key political and military actor in Yemen, recognized by regional and international stakeholders as an essential party in any sustainable peace process.

The STC promotes democratic principles, regional security, and cooperation with the international community, while supporting efforts to counter terrorism and uphold human rights.

Goals of the STC US-UN Office
The STC US Office is the official representative office of the Southern Transitional Council in the United States and at the United Nations.

Our mission is to:

Strengthen the relationship between the STC and U.S. government institutions, civil society, the South Yemeni American diaspora, and the UN member states/UNSC.

Advocate for the right of the people of South Yemen to determine their future through peaceful, democratic means.

Promote awareness of the southern cause and the STC’s vision for a stable, inclusive, and independent South Yemen state.

Facilitate dialogue between the STC and policymakers, think tanks, humanitarian organizations, and academic institutions in the United States.

Support community initiatives that preserve the South Yemen cultural heritage.

OUR WORK

Advocacy & Outreach
We engage U.S. policymakers, think tanks, and civil society to advocate for South Yemen’s right to self-determination. Through briefings, events, and policy discussions, we raise awareness of the STC’s vision and ensure the Southern voice is part of U.S. and international discourse on Yemen.

Diplomacy & UN Engagement
We support the STC’s diplomatic efforts at the United Nations, focusing on engagement with the UN Security Council and key Member States. Our goal is to ensure the southern issue is central to peace efforts and that the STC is recognized as a legitimate representative in international forums.
